010119: Flying gondolas

A quiet morning. We caught up with some admin ahead of tomorrow's moving on and then made empanadas for lunch.

Once the fireworks had died down, New Year was quiet with the streets unusually free from traffic and the booths where the women sell sweets and other bits were locked up too.

Mid afternoon some things came back to life.  On El Prado, there were large queues for ice creams.
On a whim, we decided to catch a few cable cars and get an aerial view of the city.  We even saw the Choqueyapu river which is culverted under the city.  It didn't look that good and we were lucky to be sufficiently distant not to be able to smell it.

Not much to write today.  We had Christmas dinner and dressed up in Margaret's daft gifts and went to bed early as we are moving on tomorrow.
