20/12/2019: Arthur's Bar
The daily weather seems to have a pattern - rain overnight or first thing in the morning and then clearing to become humid. Around sunset the wind increases and then becomes still at dusk.
Today, it was a little less hazy during the day than previous days and across the water look at Sint Eustatius, you could faintly seen the cone like shape of Saba island in the saddle area of the island. This is the highest point in the Nederlands.
So today was a lazy day. We did some admin like moving around money and sending emails. Kevin is reading Pet Semetary by Stephen King and Joan was researching and catching up on the blog. Time sailed by. We had intended to visit the botanical gardens but it was 2.30 pm already. Instead we sauntered off to Arthur's bar which is on the beach about 200 metres away.
It was a part of the Golden Lemon complex but now is owned by the Belle Mont hotel few miles away.
The options for veggies were not great - a grilled cheese sandwich or vegetable fitters. We opted for the latter with chips, dips and a salad. We're still not sure which vegetable the fritter was! We were the only eating customer at that time. During the meal we were kept company by two local cats, who were disappointed when they realised we were not eating fish or meat.
A couple of Ocean Coladas for Joan and a beer or two for Kevin, it was a walk along the waters edge home, where a girl was fishing with some lines. A stray dog tried to adopt us for a while.
Back home, it was sit on the deck and watch night fall.
