25/12/2019: Christmas Day

Christmas day in the Caribbean!

We were going for pre-Christmas dinner drinks with the Jacksons.  On the way we decided to stop off and look at some of the beauty spots.  The sand here at the North is black as it is volcanic.

We stopped off at some formations called Black Rocks but there is some construction being done and we could not get down to it.  There were a lot of cruise boat tourists, many who sight see in open sided vehicles.
One of the main tourist attractions is the train.  Built for the sugar plantations, it used to circle the entire island and is, allegedly, the last working railway in the Caribbean.  We had not seen it yet, but today we heard its horn and were lucky enough to see it as it crossed the iron viaduct.

The only bit we haven't seen of the island so far is the South East peninsular which runs down towards Nevis.  Here is is less populated and there are deserted beaches.   There are also some very posh homes and boats.  We heat Rita Ora is in town.

Then it was over to the beautiful Half Moon Bay where Lewis and Steph live for a few nibbles.  We met their new cat, Simon, which adopted them when they moved in.

Then it was a drive home to the Keyhouse and a traditional Christmss dinner, complete with sprouts but no parsnips.  Some wine may have been drunk.  Merry Xmas xx
